Culinary Boot Camp 2010 was a SUCCESS!!!

I am pleased to say that my first Culinary Boot Camp in Atlanta,GA was a great success. Through my One Bite At A Time non-profit foundation, I was able to put together a week long camp that introduced 28 young adults the in's and out's of the culinary world. After months and months of preparation it proved to be well worth the long hours of my staff and I. The campers were so fun and full of energy but most importantly eager to learn the culinary world. It is always refreshing to know that youth is still interested in the culinary world in these days of pre-fixed meals and fast food. Please check out the pictures that will soon be on the website.

I think its great what your doing in the community and taking the time out of your busy schedule to give back.

Your BLOG is awesome but I couldn't help but notice that you are looking for someone special.

My best friend would be perfect for you. She would kill me if she knew I was writing but let me tell you a little about her...

Besides being absolutely beautiful her spirit is like no other. I am telling you I have never known anyone who is more positive and a true light in the lives of everyone that knows her. She is well traveled, educated, tall, curves and the prettiest smile this side of the westside. She comes from two very educated/successful parents who have thought her not only what love is but more importantly what love looks like.

Ok, I think I have said enough... but, I truly truly want her to find someone special who she can eat and drink wine with. Here is the link to her website www.janellenicoleinc.com please go and all her info is on there... but, ssshhh, like I said she would kill me if she knew I did this - I have to get creative on how I am going to break the news that I posted this.

Best,
V Denham + All her friends (we are all writing this together)

Hello chef G. I wanted to know if you could give me a little insite on how I could go about organizing my own culinary youth camp. I am a 24 year old chef from baltimore MD, I want to help kids build a dream because no one is helping them do that except the coaches of the football and basketball teams. I want the kids to understand that sports is not the only chance they'll have at success. Chef I look forward to hearing from you when you have the time.

Thanks in Advance
Keyon. H

I just wanted to tell you.As a parent of one of the young adults that attened your boot camp. You made a great impact on my son life. He went to the boot camp excitied and ready to learn. He felt like it was a once in a life time experience. He learned alot while he was there. But he also built some longtime friendships. Kris speaks of you often and your entire staff. Words could not explain how much of a great opprotunity this was. Continue to do great work and things.

Dear Mr.Garvin
i had written a note to you at 4 am today, wanting to submit my comment, and oops it all vanished from the screen, which really was a shame, so here i go again....
2 years ago i stumbled upon your cookbook....make it supersimple....browsed through it (admittedly i never heard of you before, living in the suburbs of NY), and i smiled, broad and wide-eyed....
how beautiful it was, to see this big man with inked skin, being feeling speaking nurturing soooo
hmmmm just so gently, seemingly authentic, appreciating humbly, LIVING with eyes and mind aware.....of Life,
either way, i smiled, felt reaffirmed in human-kind, and finally today, i am writing to you 2 years later (fully remembering i wanted to do so from the get go, but life as it is having kept me so very busy making sure i raise 3 amazingly beautiful little souls to be able to get them to see their own potential as well, which i am sure you as well at this point know is no small fait- accomplit, having been raised by a single mom yourself),
so let me just say, i hope this note reaches you one day in turn, and you will smile realizing that within the suburban white bread jungle of NY you touched someone,so here they finally are, my little thank yous hoping they will reach and give back....
in kindness, Ute (mausch333@gmail.com)
